Another thought on a sad note

In my last post I mentioned the death of pets. It is a very difficult time for anyone going through it. And the time leading up to it is probably even harder. So, I want to post a poem written to address that difficult time. For those of you who have dealt with this or will deal with this issue, I hope it helps.

The Last Battle

If it should be that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then, will you do what must be done,
For this--the last battle--can't be won.

You will be sad, I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship MUST stand the test.

We've had so many happy years,
You wouldn't want me to suffer so,
When the time comes, please let me go.

Take me to where my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me till the end.
And hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you will agree,
It is a great kindness you do for me.

Although my tail its last, has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.

Don't greive that it must be you,
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close--we two--these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

  1. It is so sad when a pet leaves us. My hugs and kisses are flying your way.

A very sad note but at the same time very comforting.

  2. OK I am sooking here.. my dad has to get his dogs put to sleep soon, the poor things aren't doing so well and the treatment is only prolonging this decisions.. but he can't do it.. and either can I!

your fluffy puss puss looks so much like my evil cat its not funny.. Cosmo is probably a little darker, but super fluffy!
