We've been certified!

Today in our yard, I added a bird feeder and a bird bath. Within 2 hours our resident male cardinal had found them and was calling his mate.
Also today, the county officer came to inspect our new yard, and we were recognized as a "Florida friendly landscape" That relates to green friendly, as in low water requirements, native plants that don't require fertilizers, trees, and plants that attract and feed wildlife.
And to top it off, I got a new postcard from Mary, commemorating her trip to visit me!

The only negative today was that I still didn't get my issue of "On Track" :( Maybe tomorrow!

  1. The cardinal would be reward enough for me, my DH would love to see that! Congratulations on making your habitat green and friendly.

  8. Your garden is lovely, congrats. Now, a little further north in Georgia, I suppose a "Georgia friendly landscape" would be brown and crispy, since they're not allowed to water! We've got the brown and crispy yard too here in southeastern Tennessee, but we've got a river so we can still water the plants, at least, and try to keep them going. It would be interesting if you posted the names of plants you used that are low-water users.

  9. I love the idea of water friendly yards. More water for the fish.
